Stoorworm?

In Orcadian folklore Mester Stoor Worm or Stoorworm was a gigantic sea dragon. Each Saturday he would demand a sacrifice of seven virgins, this resource naturally became scarce. Eventually when the King's daughter became a potential appeasement, the King offered his Kingdom, his daughter's hand and the magic sword Sikkersnapper to the person who could defeat the dragon.

Assipattle was the youngest son of a farmer, and held in very low regard. Early one morning he stole some smouldering hot peat, and a small boat. He then paddled out to the slumbering Stoorworm. When the dragon began to yawn, Assipattle sped the boat down the dragon's throat on the inrush of seawater. Once deep inside the dragon Assipattle plunged the burning peat into Stoorworm's liver.

The fire in his liver caused Stoorworm to retch, throwing Assipattle with his boat back out to sea. As the fire then took hold, the Stoorworm writhed in agony and with his violent death throes his teeth fell forming Orkney, Shetland and the Faroes. His tounge fell and made the Baltic Sea. Finally his still burning body made the land mass of Iceland.
